Wachusett holds No. 1 as Central Mass. Top 10 shifts after Week 2

The top three stayed put in the Week 2 Central Massachusetts high school football rankings, while four unbeaten teams climbed the list.

Wachusett remains the No. 1 team in the Week 2 Central Massachusetts high school football Top 10, with Hudson second and St. John's third. All three improved to 2-0, as Wachusett shut out West Springfield 50-0, Hudson downed Westborough 26-14, and St. John's routed Grafton 44-0.

The middle of the poll saw movement among other 2-0 squads. West Boylston rose from fifth to fourth, Tantasqua from sixth to fifth, Auburn from eighth to sixth and St. Bernard's from ninth to seventh. Northbridge, now 1-1, slid from fourth to eighth.

Shepherd Hill, previously an honorable mention, entered the rankings at No. 9, and Algonquin went from unranked to No. 10. Both are 2-0.

The list, covering the Telegram & Gazette area in the 2026 MIAA season, weighs how teams perform relative to their schedule and size rather than head-to-head results, and it is updated weekly.

Week 3 matchups include Wachusett hosting Minnechaug, Hudson traveling to South, and St. John's visiting Shrewsbury. Blackstone-Millville, Gardner, Leominster, Millbury, Nipmuc, Oakmont, Tyngsborough and Uxbridge earned honorable mentions.
