Minnesota's head coach said the rookie's left calf issue surfaced Sunday and the team won't gamble on her return with the playoffs ahead.
Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve said the team has no intention of gambling on rookie Olivia Miles' health after a left calf problem kept her out of the lineup against the Indiana Fever.
According to Reeve, the injury emerged on Sunday and nearly kept Miles from facing Connecticut, a game she probably should have skipped. With Minnesota having already secured the top seed, the coach saw no reason to push her into action against Indiana.
The Lynx leaned heavily on their bench in a one-sided defeat while several regular starters sat for most of the contest. Napheesa Collier voiced frustration afterward with how the team performed.
Reeve said Miles will continue to be evaluated day by day through healing and testing, leaving her availability unclear for Thursday, when the Fever visit Minnesota to close the WNBA regular season.
