Ohtani, Skubal headline latest Dodgers injured list moves

The Dodgers placed Shohei Ohtani on the 15-day injured list with right biceps inflammation, while Tarik Skubal went on the bereavement list ahead of a possible September 23 return.

The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to juggle a crowded injured list in 2026, with designated hitter Shohei Ohtani the most notable current absence. Ohtani was placed on the 15-day injured list on September 11 with right biceps inflammation, backdated to September 8, making him eligible to return September 23.

Pitcher Tarik Skubal, acquired from Kansas City along with Kris Bubic's rights in an August trade, was placed on the bereavement list on September 20. He is also eligible to return September 23. Bubic, sidelined since May 18 with elbow and shoulder soreness, was activated off the 60-day injured list on September 16 after six rehab appearances.

The team welcomed back several players in recent weeks. Outfielder Andy Pages was activated September 21 after a left hand fracture, and right-hander Roki Sasaki returned the same day following a right middle finger blister. Catcher Dalton Rushing, out with right elbow discomfort since September 6, had a brief earlier IL stint in August for a partially torn UCL.

The volume of injuries continues a multi-year trend for the club. According to the tracker, 28 different Dodgers players spent time on the injured list in 2025, matching the 2024 total, after 34 players missed time in 2023. Key season-long absences this year have included Brusdar Graterol, who underwent shoulder surgery and later back surgery, and reliever Jake Cousins, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery and began a rehab assignment September 2.
