Green says Kerr wants him shooting more threes next season

Warriors forward Draymond Green says Steve Kerr has told him to take on a bigger scoring role for the 2026-27 season.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green said on his podcast that head coach Steve Kerr has outlined a new role for him going into the 2026-27 season, one that asks him to look for his own offense more often.

Green said Kerr previously gave him and Stephen Curry freedom to make aggressive plays, even at the cost of turnovers. Green has averaged 2.3 turnovers per game over his career, according to the report.

Toward the end of last season, Green said, Kerr told him he wanted him shooting the three-pointer. Green said the request surprised him, even during stretches when his shooting was going well, because it was something he had never heard from the coach before.

Green, 36, has won four championships with the Warriors, largely in a playmaking role alongside Curry. He indicated he is open to the change, believing it could help both him and the team.
