Week 3 knee and thigh injuries to Miami's De'Von Achane and the Jets' Breece Hall have put Ollie Gordon II and Braelon Allen atop early Week 4 fantasy waiver wire lists.
Injuries to two leading running backs are reshaping the early Week 4 waiver wire in fantasy football. Approaching the end of the first month of the 2026 NFL season, worthwhile free agents are becoming scarce, and backfield openings in Miami and New York have produced the week's most coveted claims. The players positioned to benefit remain available in most leagues.
Miami's De'Von Achane exited the Dolphins' Week 3 meeting with Kansas City in the first quarter because of a knee injury. Neither the severity nor his availability going forward has been determined. Achane had been perhaps the lone dependable fantasy asset on a Miami club trending toward the bottom of the league this season.
Once Achane departed, Ollie Gordon II needed little time to reach the end zone, scoring on a drive that ranked among Miami's best in six years. He ended the day with 17 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown, plus three receptions for 14 yards, good for 13.4 fantasy points. Cramps forced Gordon out late in the game, but he came back.
Rostered in only 2% of Yahoo leagues, Gordon would become one of Week 4's most sought-after pickups if Achane is out, offering flex-level production with room for more. The path to carries looks clear: Jaylen Wright was inactive for Week 3, and DJ Herman is unlikely to handle many touches, if any. Miami may seldom find itself in game situations that favor running, but Gordon's snaps and touches would still be plentiful.
New York faces its own backfield uncertainty after Breece Hall was ruled out during the second half against Detroit with a thigh injury sustained on an awkward tackle. An injury of that type does not automatically point to a long stay on the sidelines, though further details are pending.
Braelon Allen, 18% rostered, is first in line to carry the load if Hall cannot play. He produced 334 rushing yards, 19 receptions for 148 yards and three touchdowns during his rookie season a few years back. With Isaiah Davis spelling him, Allen would work as the lead back against Chicago and Cleveland over the next few weeks, a slate that would place him in RB2-to-RB3 territory in PPR formats.
Tight end Kenyon Sadiq, 17% rostered, is also drawing attention in New York. He caught seven passes for 105 yards and a touchdown against Detroit — his second career score and his first as a receiver — for 20 fantasy points. Few rookies have made a meaningful impact so far in 2026, but Sadiq is establishing himself in an improved Jets offense.
Quarterback Geno Smith has thrown the ball well behind a rebuilt offensive line, though the Jets have more receiving contributors than expected. Wide receivers Omar Cooper Jr. and Adonai Mitchell are sidelined, and Garrett Wilson exited late in the Week 3 game after absorbing a heavy hit, which could leave additional targets available.
Bye weeks begin in Week 5, adding urgency to roster decisions now. Sadiq offers depth at a thin position and streaming appeal, with the potential to produce at a No. 1 tight end's level despite the crowded passing game.
