Chicago's high-scoring start to the season hit a wall in Week 2, as the Bears managed only a field goal in a 9-3 home loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The game followed a 59-point outburst against the Carolina Panthers in Week 1, part of head coach Ben Johnson's stated aim of fielding the highest-scoring offense in NFL history.

On FS1's First Things First, Danny Parkins defended the performance by pointing to conditions in Chicago, saying winds exceeded 20 mph, it rained, and more than 500 flights were canceled at O'Hare Airport that day. Nick Wright objected, questioning what canceled flights had to do with the game, while Chris Broussard noted players in Tennessee dealt with extreme heat on the same Sunday.

Parkins also defended quarterback Caleb Williams' reaction to a hamstring issue and praised defensive coordinator Dennis Allen for limiting Carson Wentz. Wright, Broussard and Kevin Wildes each pushed back on those arguments during the segment.

Beyond the weather-related miscues, the Bears fumbled at the Minnesota 1-yard line, missed a field goal attempt, and went 0-for-3 in the red zone. Chicago is still averaging 31 points per game through two weeks.
