Flyers goaltender Dan Vladar leaves preseason game with upper-body injury

Philadelphia's top goalie exited Tuesday's preseason matchup against Boston after a first-period collision and did not return.

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Dan Vladar left Tuesday's preseason game against the Boston Bruins with an upper-body injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the night, the team announced.

The injury occurred in the first period. Vladar reached out to play a loose puck and was clipped by Bruins forward Tanner Jeannot skating through the crease area. Vladar lost his stick, and Boston's Michael Eyssimont scored shortly after on a deflection from a point shot. Vladar then skated to the bench, where a trainer examined his arm.

Aleksei Kolosov took over in goal for the Flyers, who fell to the Bruins 5-1 in the exhibition contest.

Vladar, 29, joined the Flyers as a free agent before last season and took hold of the starting job, posting a 29-14-7 record with a 2.42 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage. His play helped Philadelphia end a five-year playoff drought, with the club defeating Pittsburgh in the first round before falling in the second.

The goaltender signed a five-year, $27.5 million contract extension during the offseason. The Flyers have not provided a timeline for his return.
