Estevao Takes Measured View of Limited Role Under Chelsea's Alonso

The 19-year-old Brazilian winger says he focuses on what he can control after seeing few minutes under new manager Xabi Alonso.

Chelsea winger Estevao has addressed his lack of playing time under new manager Xabi Alonso, saying he can only concentrate on the things within his influence. The 19-year-old Brazil international spoke to reporters while on duty with his national team.

Estevao joined Chelsea last summer and made an immediate impression, scoring eight goals in 36 appearances. Those included a late winner against Liverpool and a standout solo goal against Barcelona in the Champions League. A hamstring injury ended his season early and kept him out of this summer's World Cup.

This campaign he has featured for just 23 minutes across four Premier League substitute appearances, with his only two starts coming in the Carabao Cup. Alonso has preferred a front three of Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Morgan Rogers.

"I think every coach has their own way of playing," Estevao said. "We have quality players at Chelsea, so what I do is focus on what I can control. I try to give my best in training, when I get an opportunity I try to give my best."

Despite the limited minutes, Chelsea reportedly view the winger as central to the long-term plans of Alonso and the club's leadership. Estevao added that he tries to seize every chance he gets and trusts himself to keep developing day by day.
