Footage posted Sunday shows the February 2024 pregame altercation between Isaiah Stewart and Drew Eubanks, an incident that drew a three-game NBA suspension for Stewart.
Video of the altercation between Isaiah Stewart and Drew Eubanks appeared on social media Sunday, more than two years after the confrontation took place. The incident occurred in February 2024, ahead of a scheduled meeting between the Detroit Pistons and the Phoenix Suns. At the time, Stewart was a big man with the Pistons and Eubanks held the same role on the Phoenix roster.
The sports outlet ClutchPoints circulated the clip in a social media post on Sunday. According to reports from the time, the confrontation unfolded in a restricted corridor inside the arena, away from the playing floor, while the Pistons and the Suns were completing their preparations for that evening's game.
The recording begins with Stewart walking up to Eubanks, and the two men exchange a few words. Stewart then swings and lands a punch before dropping into a lowered stance as if bracing himself for a fight.
Eubanks turns to leave, and Stewart responds by shoving him. The two players then face one another as a fight appears set to break out, but team security or arena staff step in almost immediately and pull them apart before the confrontation goes any further.
The NBA addressed the matter when the incident first came to light in 2024. Stewart received a three-game suspension for his role, a penalty that covered both the punch and the shove now visible in the circulating footage. The punishment came down long before any video of the encounter had been made public.
Both players have since landed in new situations around the league. Stewart played his entire NBA career in Detroit up to this point, and he built a reputation there as a physical defender who does not hesitate to engage opponents or stand his ground.
He took the court 58 times this past season with the Pistons, drew 13 starts and logged slightly more than 22 minutes per game. Stewart averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.6 blocked shots while converting 55 percent of his field goals, 33.3 percent of his three-point attempts and 75.6 percent of his free throws. Detroit then dealt him to the Memphis Grizzlies this offseason.
Eubanks has changed uniforms multiple times around the NBA over the past couple of seasons. His latest stop is a training-camp stint with the New York Knicks, the league's defending champions, where he is trying to win a place on the roster.
Sacramento was his home last season, and he appeared in 42 games with 11 starts at slightly more than 13 minutes per contest. Eubanks averaged 5.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 59.6 percent from the field, 14.3 percent from beyond the arc and 56.1 percent from the free-throw line.
