North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick gave short answers to ESPN sideline reporter Stormy Buonantony during the Tar Heels' recent game against Clemson. Asked about his team's penalties, Belichick replied, "Too many of them. Too many."
When she followed up by asking whether anything specific needed to stop, he said there was not, adding that the team simply had to keep executing better. Buonantony noted on the broadcast that the sideline exchange felt different from their conversations the day before, when she said it was "story time."
Jonathan Van Tobel of VSiN's Money Moves criticized Belichick on the September 21 episode, calling his behavior unprofessional and unfair to his co-host. He said Belichick had been friendly in their Friday meeting and called him a jerk, adding that he was glad UNC lost the game.
Neither Belichick nor Buonantony has responded to the commentary. UNC fell to Clemson 28-20 for its first loss of the season after opening with wins over TCU and East Tennessee State. The Tar Heels face Notre Dame on October 3.
