English lower leagues press on during international break

Bradford City lead League One, Barnet top League Two, and Boreham Wood hold the National League's automatic promotion spot as fixtures continue below the Premier League.

While much of English club football pauses for the international break, the lower leagues keep playing. In League One, Bradford City sit top of the table on 15 points, followed by Sheffield Wednesday on 14 and Plymouth Argyle on 13. Huddersfield and Cambridge United are level on 12, with Oxford United on 11.

Bradford's position is notable after the club was in the automatic promotion places late last season before a slump kept them in the third tier. Leicester City, meanwhile, sit midtable, and the club recently announced further debt-to-equity discussions worth £8.5 billion as takeover talk continues among supporters. No structural changes have been made at the club.

In League Two, North London side Barnet lead the way on 15 points after a favorable run of early fixtures against Fleetwood Town, Accrington Stanley, Exeter City and Chesterfield. Walsall and Grimsby are level on 13, with Gillingham, Cheltenham Town and Bristol Rovers all on 12 and York City on 11. Port Vale and Crawley Town occupy the relegation places.

The National League sees Boreham Wood in the lone automatic promotion spot on 23 points, with Southend United close behind on 20. Harrogate Town are currently in the playoff mix, alongside clubs including Yeovil Town, Sutton United, Forest Green Rovers, Carlisle United and Scunthorpe United.

At the bottom of League One, Doncaster Rovers and MK Dons have 6 points each, with Peterborough United on 5 and Wigan Athletic propping up the division on 4.
