Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce set the NFL's all-time record for yards after catch in his team's 33-30 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, and he says the milestone ranks among the proudest moments of his playing days.
Speaking on the New Heights podcast, Kelce told his brother Jason that surpassing running back Marshall Faulk at the top of the list was, in his words, one of the craziest and coolest accomplishments of his career.
Kelce admitted he had no idea he was even close to the record, saying he did not know he ranked in the top five or ten all time in the category. He also noted the irony that a running back had held the mark.
The tight end said the list also includes receivers Terrell Owens and Larry Fitzgerald. He grew up watching Owens turn short slant passes into long touchdowns and attended one of Fitzgerald's college games at Pittsburgh while Jason was being recruited there.
Kelce added that while he was not comparing himself to those players, it is meaningful simply to be mentioned alongside them in a statistical category.
The win over Indianapolis was the Chiefs' second of the season, with Kelce's production among the factors behind the team's strong start.
