UFC middleweight Sean Strickland said he is recovering after an all-terrain vehicle crash in Las Vegas on the evening of Monday, Sept. 21. Strickland, 35, described the incident in videos posted to his Instagram account, which has roughly 3 million followers.
Strickland said he let a friend drive the ATV on a dirt track and that the vehicle rolled about six times while traveling around 60 mph. He was riding in the front seat without a helmet and showed followers injuries to his head and shoulder, describing himself as being in a "real bad place" afterward.
A friend, Chris Cornell, appeared to lose consciousness after the impact, and Strickland later said Cornell was in the hospital and was expected to be alright. Despite the injuries, Strickland described the outing as the most fun he had had in a long time.
Strickland is a two-time UFC middleweight champion who defeated Khamzat Chimaev in May. The UFC did not immediately comment on the accident.
