Virginia Tech's offensive line has been graded the fifth-best unit in college football through the first three weeks of the 2026 season, according to Pro Football Network's advanced metrics.
The Hokies entered the year with uncertainty up front after several seasons in which the position group was not a team strength. Projected starting tackle Johnny Garrett's injury added to those concerns. New head coach James Franklin addressed the issue by signing several offensive linemen in the 2026 recruiting class and adding transfers Justin Terry from Ohio State and Logan Howland from Oklahoma.
Virginia Tech is 3-0 and coming off a dominant road win at Maryland that snapped a 15-game non-conference losing streak against Power Four opponents. The line performed well against a large and talented Maryland defensive front, though questions remain about the run blocking.
Terry, a redshirt sophomore, was helped off the field with a lower-leg injury during the Maryland game and was later seen on crutches. Franklin told reporters Monday that he would not comment on Terry's status until speaking with him. Howland filled in at left tackle and played well.
Kansas State, USC, Missouri, Iowa and Virginia Tech round out PFN's top five offensive line grades. The Hokies play at Boston College on Saturday.
