The Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks open their exhibition schedules against one another on Monday, Oct. 5, with tipoff set for 7 p.m. ET at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. The matchup is the first game of the 2026-27 campaign for both teams, and it comes two weeks before they meet again to open the regular season. Each club has five additional games listed through Oct. 22.
Preseason games are often restricted to regional outlets, but this one will reach a national audience as well as viewers in both home markets. NBA TV carries the national telecast, NBC Sports Philadelphia covers the Philadelphia area, and MSG handles the New York region.
Streaming follows the same pattern. Fubo, a live-TV streaming service, is available to viewers across the country and in the Philadelphia market, and the platform offers a free trial to new subscribers.
The New York market has a separate arrangement. DAZN, which recently began delivering MSG's networks directly to consumers, will stream the game live and on demand for viewers in that region.
The game also carries a notable individual subplot. Because the 76ers play their next two exhibitions on the road, the home opener shapes up as the most likely night for LeBron James to make his debut. If he takes the floor, he would line up against Jalen Brunson and a Knicks team that enters the season as the defending champions.
The rivalry resumes in earnest two weeks later. Philadelphia and New York are scheduled to open the NBA regular season against each other on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. ET, with the 76ers listed as the visiting team. Both teams' published schedules show the same date and time for that opener, which will count in the standings.
Philadelphia's remaining preseason schedule includes three games. The 76ers visit the Brooklyn Nets on Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. ET and the Boston Celtics on Oct. 10 at 8 p.m., then return home to host the Celtics on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. Boston is the only opponent Philadelphia faces twice in the preseason. Once the regular season starts, the 76ers follow the Oct. 20 opener in New York with a home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
New York also has four more exhibition dates ahead. The Knicks host the Washington Wizards on Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. ET and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m., visit the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m., and finish the preseason at home against the Raptors on Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Toronto is the only opponent New York faces twice in the preseason. The Oct. 20 matchup with the 76ers then opens the Knicks' regular-season slate.
