Two Manchester United players away on loan featured in cup matches on Tuesday. Dan Gore, spending this season with Luton Town after a spell at Rotherham United a year ago, helped the Hatters beat Ipswich Town's under-21 side 6-0.
Gore lasted 80 minutes at Kenilworth Road, setting up a goal and delivering one key pass. He also fashioned a big chance that went unconverted and kept possession with a 90% success rate. Defensively, the midfielder won every tackle he went for, came out on top in four of six ground duels, and added two interceptions plus a clearance. Luton's next outing comes against Colchester United on October 3.
Jayce Fitzgerald, meanwhile, played the full match as Rotherham drew 1-1 with York City before prevailing 5-4 on penalties. The midfielder converted his spot-kick in the shootout and had three attempts at goal during the game.
Fitzgerald found the target with 82% of his passes, though only one of his three long balls reached a teammate. He won three tackles and six ground duels. Rotherham face Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.
