Leeds United defender Jaka Bijol has publicly supported Slovenia teammate Benjamin Sesko after comments from former Manchester United players Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt about the striker's injury absence.
Sesko, 23, missed Manchester United's draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage after aggravating a shin injury and was also unavailable for Slovenia during the international break. Reacting to his omission, Scholes said on The Good, The Bad & The Football that if the shin is not broken, the player should just wear shinpads, while Butt added that a player either breaks his shin or plays.
Bijol responded to those remarks, which reportedly were poorly received in Slovenia according to MailSport. He said he hopes Sesko can distance himself from that kind of pressure and warned that reading such comments when confidence is already low can make matters worse.
The defender added that Sesko should not pay too much attention to the criticism, saying everyone knows the quality he has and that he shows it with what Bijol described as incredible things on the pitch.
