No. 1 Texas remained unbeaten with a 20-17 win over No. 13 Tennessee at Neyland Stadium in Week 4 of the 2026 college football season. The Longhorns moved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in SEC play with the Top 15 road victory. Tennessee dropped to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Tennessee coach Josh Heuel gave Texas credit and located the gap between the teams on offense. He said his defense and much of his special teams performed well, but the offense did not reach the standard needed to beat an opponent of that caliber. He added that blame is shared across the roster, from the line to the quarterback, and that while Tennessee was not sharp enough in how it played, the willingness to keep competing to the end was a positive.
