Pokemon UNITE has announced the Aeos Crown 2027, its first major tournament since leaving the World Championship Series circuit. The move follows the 2026 Pokemon World Championships in San Francisco, after which many fans assumed the game's competitive scene had ended.
Open online regional qualifiers begin December 5, 2026, and feed into an offline final in Tokyo on March 20-21, 2027. Thirty-one teams will advance from the qualifiers, where they will be joined by ZETA to complete a 32-team field.
The event carries a total prize pool of $1 million USD, which the announcement describes as the largest in Pokemon UNITE history and in single Pokemon competition history. According to Pokemon.com, all qualifying teams receive travel awards, with supplementary rewards also available.
An All-Star Draft format will be used in the late-stage regional qualifiers and the offline finals. Coverage will stream live on official Pokemon UNITE channels from the final day of each regional qualifier through the Tokyo finals.
Exact qualifier dates and the list of participating countries have not yet been released. Organizers said those details will be shared on official social media channels.
