Los Angeles signed the tight end off Jacksonville's practice squad after placing David Njoku and Charlie Kolar on injured reserve.
The Los Angeles Chargers brought in tight end Hayden Rucci on Monday, signing him away from the Jacksonville Jaguars' practice squad, the team announced. The move addresses a position group that had been hit hard by injuries.
Two tight ends, David Njoku and Charlie Kolar, were hurt in Sunday's game and moved to injured reserve a day later. A third, Scott Matlock, has occupied an injured-reserve spot since the season began. Before the signing, rookie Oronde Gadsden stood as the only healthy tight end on the roster.
Rucci entered the league in 2024 as an undrafted free agent from Wisconsin and has since passed through organizations including the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers and Jaguars. Wide receiver Gary Jennings was released to clear a space on the 53-man roster.
