Ashton Jeanty briefly left the Raiders' Week 4 loss to Kansas City before returning, then said his injured ankle is getting closer to full strength.
The Las Vegas Raiders fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 30-27 in Week 4 action on Oct. 4, and running back Ashton Jeanty was central to their effort in a tight divisional game. He produced 126 yards from scrimmage and, after briefly exiting with members of the training staff, returned to finish the contest.
The in-game scare carried added significance because Jeanty has been managing an ankle injury since before the 2026 NFL season began, and the issue may not be fully resolved. Speaking with reporters afterward, in comments relayed by Vegas Sports Today, he offered a direct update on how he is feeling.
"I'm feeling all right," Jeanty said. "Just gotta get back to work, keep rehabbing." He added that the ankle "is getting stronger" and that he feels he is "going to be 100 percent real soon."
On the ground, Jeanty has not matched his showing from the season opener against the Miami Dolphins, which remains his only 100-yard rushing performance through four games. Opponents have limited his production on the ground in the three weeks since that Week 1 outing. Asked why he has not replicated that output, he kept his answer short.
"I think we just got to be better," Jeanty said. "Simple as that. Make the plays out there. They're there. So it starts with us, starts with me. Got to break tackles and just make bigger plays when they're available."
Las Vegas also showed late resolve. The Raiders trailed 30-19 in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter before rallying to give themselves a chance to tie the game. "We're gonna play till the clock hits zero," Jeanty said. "We're gonna fight and find a way to try to win. We fell short today, but we're gonna watch the film, regather everything, and come back to attack next week."
The pivotal moment went against the Raiders when Dareke Young fumbled on a kickoff, handing Kansas City the break it needed to close out the win. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 15 of 30 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns, posting a 97.2 passer rating.
Mahomes praised the opposition after the final whistle. "That's a good football team," he said of the Raiders, pointing to the veteran players added to the roster and a defense whose line, linebackers and secondary were "playing together and really getting us off the field a lot of the time." He noted that Kansas City's explosive plays late in the game "really helped us."
Las Vegas now turns to a Week 5 meeting with the New England Patriots, who arrive off a Week 4 victory over the Buffalo Bills. The Raiders and Chiefs are scheduled to meet again on Jan. 10, 2027, in a late-season rematch between the AFC West rivals.
