The Atlanta Braves open a three-game set with the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. EDT, and the club provided a health update on outfielder Lane Thomas before the opener.
Thomas landed on the injured list Sept. 8 because of a strained left intercostal muscle. According to MLB.com's Mark Bowman, the outfielder received a cortisone shot last week and hit off a tee on Tuesday. Bowman reported there is no firm return date, but Thomas might be ready at some point early in the postseason.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Chad Bishop relayed comments from Thomas, who said the light tee work went well and that he believes his recovery is running a bit ahead of schedule.
