Acuña Exits Braves Game After Foul Ball Strikes Left Leg

Ronald Acuña Jr. left Tuesday's game against Cincinnati in the third inning after fouling a pitch off his left leg, raising questions about his playoff availability.

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. was forced out of Tuesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds after fouling a pitch off the inside of his left leg in the bottom of the third inning.

Acuña attempted to shake off the pain but eventually dropped to the ground, and a trainer came out to check on him. He left the field and was removed from the game, with Brewer Hicklen taking his place.

The 28-year-old has already dealt with injury trouble this season. A hamstring strain first suffered in May and aggravated in June kept him out for more than six weeks, and he did not return until July 27.

Atlanta has already secured a playoff spot and the NL East title, but any injured-list stint now could sideline Acuña for the start of the postseason next week. The team has five regular season games remaining.

In 103 games this year, Acuña is hitting .260 with a .352 on-base percentage, 20 home runs, 55 RBIs and 20 stolen bases while serving as the Braves' leadoff hitter.
