Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has laid out an unusually ambitious set of career goals, saying three La Liga titles are far from enough. In an interview with L'Equipe, relayed by Mundo Deportivo, the 19-year-old said he aims to win seven or eight league titles at minimum and has not yet given up on the Champions League.
Yamal was blunt about his self-belief, joking that even against swimmer Michael Phelps he would expect to prevail. "I never doubt myself," he said, adding that if he ever failed to win the Ballon d'Or, he would simply target it the following year.
The teenager also pointed to areas of his game he has worked on, particularly finishing, saying he felt he performed well between midfield and the box but lacked something extra that he believes is now improving.
He said setbacks, including Barcelona's 2025 Champions League semi-final loss to Inter Milan and struggles with groin pain, have shaped him. The injury, he explained, taught him the importance of recovery, physiotherapy, earlier bedtimes and better eating habits.
Yamal summarized his outlook by saying he wants to keep winning repeatedly, and that if he does not, he will simply try again the next year.
