Bills Face Receiver Uncertainty Ahead of Week 3 Meeting With Chargers

The short version
- Bills WRs DJ Moore (shoulder) and Keon Coleman (ankle) are questionable for Week 3 vs. the Chargers
- Ty Johnson will make his season debut after missing two weeks with a hamstring injury
- Ed Oliver is questionable with a hip injury; Jordan Hancock and T.J. Sanders are out
- Buffalo enters the game 2-0; Los Angeles is winless
Wide receivers DJ Moore and Keon Coleman are questionable for Buffalo's Sunday home game against Los Angeles, while Ty Johnson is set to return.
The Buffalo Bills, off to a 2-0 start, host the still-winless Los Angeles Chargers at Highmark Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Head coach Joe Brady's team has opened the season in strong form, but a wave of injuries at the offensive skill positions has created uncertainty heading into the Week 3 matchup.
The biggest concerns are at wide receiver. Both DJ Moore and rookie Keon Coleman were listed as questionable on Friday's final injury report. Moore is dealing with a shoulder injury and had an uneven week: he was limited Wednesday, sat out Thursday, and returned on a limited basis Friday.
Coleman, meanwhile, is managing an ankle problem. He did not practice Wednesday or Thursday before taking part in a limited session Friday. Brady indicated the decisions on both receivers could go right up to kickoff, saying he would give them until game time and expressed confidence they would play when ready.
Their availability will shape how Josh Allen and the Buffalo offense operate. If either or both sit, Khalil Shakir would move into the top receiver role by default, and tight end Dalton Kincaid, already a dependable target, would likely see increased volume. A depleted receiving group could also push the Bills toward the run game and shorter throws.
There was positive news in the backfield. Running back Ty Johnson is off the injury report and expected to make his season debut after missing the first two weeks with a hamstring injury. He practiced fully all week, and Brady confirmed Johnson will be available. James Cook remains the lead back, but Johnson's return as a third-down option could cut into Cook's snap share.
On defense, tackle Ed Oliver is questionable with a hip issue. He sat out Wednesday, was limited Thursday, and was a full participant Friday, an encouraging sign for his availability. The Bills will be without defensive back Jordan Hancock, who has a hamstring injury, and defensive lineman T.J. Sanders, who is recovering from an appendectomy.
Because Buffalo plays in the early window, fantasy managers will know the inactive list before the later games begin. The statuses of Moore and Coleman will be the key items to watch on Sunday morning.
The Chargers visit the Bills on Sunday, September 27, at 1:00 PM EDT at Highmark Stadium. The game airs on FOX.
