Atlanta Braves outfielder Lane Thomas is showing signs of progress as the club prepares for the MLB playoffs after clinching the NL East. The 31-year-old, currently on the 10-day injured list with an intercostal muscle injury, received a cortisone injection last week, according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman.
Bowman reported that Thomas took swings off a tee on Tuesday. No firm timetable for his return has been set, though Bowman indicated the outfielder could be available during the early portion of the playoffs.
Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution relayed that Thomas described himself as slightly ahead of schedule, adding that he is progressing well after the light swinging session.
Thomas was acquired from the Kansas City Royals on Aug. 1. Across 118 games this season between the two clubs, he is batting .224 with 11 home runs and 40 RBIs.
