NYC Marathon Unveils New Bronx Route for 2026 Race

Runners will follow a revised path through the Bronx this year, the first course change in 15 years for the five-borough race.

The TCS New York City Marathon is adjusting its five-borough course for the first time in 15 years. The change affects a stretch of roughly one mile in the Bronx.

Under the previous layout, the route circled a block containing a supermarket, which kept local residents from reaching the store during the race. The updated course uses a different block and bypasses the grocery store entirely.

After crossing the Willis Avenue Bridge, runners will now turn left onto East 135th Street, then right onto Alexander Avenue, continuing straight rather than turning left onto East 138th Street. They will then turn left onto East 141st Street, left onto Third Avenue, and right onto East 138th Street to cross the Madison Avenue Bridge.

ABC 7/WABC-TV and ESPN2 have carried the marathon broadcast since 2013.
