Christian Falk says he has heard nothing specific about Liverpool interest in Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund, who has signed a new deal through June 2029.
Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has signed a contract extension that keeps him at the club until June 2029, dampening speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League.
German journalist Christian Falk, speaking on the CF Bayern Insider Podcast, said he had not received any concrete information about reported Liverpool interest in the Austrian. He did note, however, that Freund appeared to hesitate before agreeing to his new deal, which raised some questions.
Falk pointed to Freund's history with English suitors, noting that Chelsea previously tried to bring him in. Freund declined that opportunity because of family ties, living in Salzburg roughly a two-hour drive from Munich, and Falk suggested a move far from home would be difficult for him.
Falk added that Freund is settled at Bayern, where internal discussions had covered how his role works alongside director of sport Max Eberl. Both men have now committed their futures to the club after a summer of reported uncertainty around Eberl's position.
Liverpool, who are seeking a new sporting director, were reported to admire Freund's work, though no approach has been confirmed.
