Premier League Resumes October 10 After Combined Fall International Break

The Premier League pauses for two weeks as national teams play four matches, with club fixtures returning Saturday, October 10.

The Premier League will resume on Saturday, October 10, following a two-week pause for an unusually long international break. FIFA combined the traditional September and October windows into a single break this year, giving national teams a two-week camp to play four matches.

The change follows the 2026 World Cup, which expanded to 48 teams and ran for six weeks over the summer. FIFA opted to give players additional time to recover and settle back at their clubs before returning to international duty.

Through five rounds of matches, Manchester City sit as the only team with a perfect record. Defending champions Arsenal stumbled just before the break, while Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham have all started below expectations.

Matchday 6 begins October 10 with Arsenal hosting Leeds United at 7:30 a.m. ET, followed by a slate including Manchester United against Tottenham at 12:30 p.m. On Sunday, October 11, Liverpool face Manchester City at 11:30 a.m. ET, and the round concludes Monday, October 12, when Coventry City host Newcastle at 3 p.m. ET.

The next international break runs November 9-17, 2026, returning to the standard format with national teams playing up to two matches.
