Bodycam Video Shows Officer Pointing Taser at Paige Bueckers During Miami Incident

Newly obtained footage shows a police officer aiming a taser at the Dallas Wings guard during the March arrest of teammate Arike Ogunbowale outside a Miami nightclub.

Bodycam footage obtained by California Post shows a Miami police officer pointing a taser at Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers during the arrest of teammate Arike Ogunbowale outside the nightclub E11EVEN earlier this year. The players had been at the venue celebrating Ogunbowale's championship win in the Unrivaled league.

According to a police incident report cited by the outlet, an altercation inside the club led ownership to have the group escorted out, and Ogunbowale allegedly punched a staff member in the face while leaving. When an officer moved to detain her, Bueckers wrapped her arm around her teammate and told the officer, "We got her."

The footage shows the officer then aiming his taser at Bueckers's face and demanding she release Ogunbowale. Others present, including Jackie Young of the Las Vegas Aces, DiJonai Carrington of the Chicago Sky and Unrivaled host Maria Clifton, objected to the officer's conduct before ultimately letting go. Police reviewed CCTV footage they said confirmed the staffer's account.

Ogunbowale was taken to jail and released the same day after posting a $1,000 bond. Court records show the misdemeanor battery charge was dropped in May. Her attorney, Mitch Schuster, said at the time that Ogunbowale was pleased the state attorney declined to move forward with the case.
