Adams leans on Whittington's 'Whatever it takes' mindset amid Rams roll

The short version
- Davante Adams has posted consecutive 100-yard receiving games for the first time since 2024.
- Adams cites teammate Jordan Whittington's 'Whatever it takes' podcast answer as one of his favorite quotes.
- Adams has 15 receptions, 332 yards and two touchdowns over the last two games with Puka Nacua out.
- Adams played 71 of 86 offensive snaps; only Matthew Stafford and the starting offensive line were on the field more.
The veteran wideout says winning outweighs personal statistics after topping 100 yards in consecutive games for the first time since 2024.
An expanded role has unlocked a vintage run of form from Davante Adams. Across the past two weeks, the Los Angeles Rams wide receiver has delivered standout production while shouldering a heavier load within the offense, and the results have followed.
That stretch opened with the sharpest performance of his Rams tenure in a matchup against the New York Giants. He followed it the next week by getting the better of Pat Surtain II, the league's 2024 Defensive Player of the Year.
Adams spoke with reporters on Wednesday and faced a question about surpassing 100 receiving yards in consecutive outings for the first time since 2024. He brushed the milestone aside, making clear that individual numbers matter far less to him than winning. "I walked into [last week's] game knowing the type of player I am so I don't necessarily need a 100-yard game to validate what I can do on the field," Adams said.
After pacing the league in touchdown receptions a season ago, Adams emphasized a willingness to handle any assignment, and he borrowed the words of teammate Jordan Whittington to explain his outlook. "Coming to a team like this where you have playmakers literally at every single position, it's not necessary. If it is necessary and I'm called on, then I'll go and answer the bell on that," Adams said. "Whatever my game or my role looks like for whatever the situation is, I try to live up to that. If my role is to go out and have 15 targets and go make it happen for the team to have a chance to win, then I'm down to do that as well."
"'J-Whit' has a quote, actually. It's one of my favorite quotes. Somebody asked him on a podcast what he does for a living and he said, 'Whatever it takes,'" Adams continued. "If I need to have 200, then I'll set out to do that. It doesn't always happen that way, but I'm ready for it. If it's a 50-yard game and a 'tud,' then whatever it takes."
That self-sacrificing mindset sat at the heart of the Rams' push to acquire him last offseason. As his output keeps climbing, Adams is compiling a case as one of the best players to wear the uniform during the Sean McVay era in Los Angeles.
Serving as the top option in the passing game with Puka Nacua unavailable, Adams has gathered 15 receptions for 332 yards and a pair of touchdowns across the last two weeks.
His playing time reflects that importance. Adams was on the field for 71 of the offense's 86 snaps, a count topped on that side of the ball only by quarterback Matthew Stafford and the members of the starting offensive line.
Elsewhere on the sporting calendar, Jordan is scheduled to host Venezuela on Tuesday, October 6 at 1:00 PM EDT at King Abdullah II Stadium.
