Taylor McGregor Leaves Marquee Sports Network for Full-Time ESPN Role

The Chicago Cubs' lead sideline reporter is exiting Marquee Sports Network to expand her ESPN duties, including NBA coverage and potential SportsCenter hosting turns.

Taylor McGregor's run as the lead reporter for Chicago Cubs telecasts on Marquee Sports Network is over. ESPN confirmed on Sept. 24 that she is joining the network full time, following an initial report from the Chicago Tribune.

McGregor told the Tribune the move was driven by career growth and a desire for more personal time after nearly a decade of daily baseball coverage. She said she loves everyday baseball but that the grind of the schedule, which she had worked for nine years, left her ready for a change.

Her responsibilities at ESPN are set to broaden beyond college football. According to the Tribune, her portfolio will include the NBA, possibly college basketball, and additional chances to host SportsCenter. ESPN vice president Bill Hofheimer indicated on social media that her role at the network would continue to expand.

McGregor has actually been part of the ESPN lineup longer than she was with Marquee, which the Cubs launched in 2020. She joined ESPN in 2019 as a college football and UFL sideline reporter, working Saturdays primarily on ESPN and ABC broadcasts.

Before her Chicago tenure, McGregor held positions at AT&T SportsNet in Denver, THV-11 in Little Rock and KCWY-TV in Wyoming. Her resume also includes internships with SEC Network, MLB Network, FOX Sports Kansas City, ROOT Sports, RazorVision at the University of Arkansas and KNWA-TV.

An Arkansas graduate with a broadcast journalism degree from the class of 2015, McGregor is the daughter of the late Keli McGregor, a former NFL tight end who served as president of the Colorado Rockies.
