Florida earned a 44-39 win at Auburn's Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday, opening Southeastern Conference play with a victory for the first time since 2023. The result also marked the program's first 3-0 beginning to a season since 2019, a strong start to Jon Sumrall's tenure as head coach.
Following Week 3 of the college football season, Chris Vannini of The Athletic revised his rankings of all 138 Football Bowl Subdivision teams. Florida, which had sat at No. 30 or No. 31 from the preseason through Week 2, surged 15 positions to No. 16, wedged between No. 15 USC and No. 17 Utah.
The SEC placed eight programs inside the top 25. Texas holds the top spot and Ole Miss is second, with Georgia (No. 6), Alabama (No. 8) and LSU (No. 9) also in the top 10. Mississippi State (No. 13), Tennessee (No. 14) and Florida round out the conference's ranked contingent, while Kentucky (No. 26), Texas A&M (No. 27) and Missouri (No. 29) sit just below.
