Gable Steveson speaks out after UFC 331 loss, denies college-era allegations

The former wrestling champion says he was never charged and vows to rebound from his knockout defeat to Sean Sharaf.

Gable Steveson has spoken publicly for the first time since his knockout loss at UFC 331, posting an emotional statement on social media addressed to family, friends and supporters.

In the message, Steveson addressed a college-era incident that he said was raised by his opponent before and during fight week. He said he never did what was alleged, was never charged with a crime, and that the district attorney ultimately dropped the matter. He added that he cooperated fully with law enforcement and a separate Title IX review, which produced no charges, conviction or finding of responsibility.

Steveson, who described himself as a husband and father to a young daughter, said the matter is closed and there is no pending legal issue involving him.

Turning to the fight itself, the former wrestling standout congratulated his opponent, Sean Sharaf, saying a mistake on his end led to the defeat. He pointed to his wrestling career, where he rebounded from losses to reach the top of the sport, and said he believes this result will push him to do the same again.
