UEFA has named German referee Daniel Siebert as the official for Italy's Nations League fixture against Belgium at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Friday. Kickoff is set for 19.45 UK time (20.45 CEST). It is Italy's first match of the tournament, in a group that also includes France and Turkiye.
Siebert will be joined on the field by assistants Jan Seidel and Rafael Foltyn, with Sascha Stegemann serving as fourth official. The video review crew is also German: Bastian Dankert will operate VAR, assisted by Pascal Muller.
The 42-year-old officiated last season's Champions League Final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal. He has previous experience with the Italian national team, having refereed a 3-1 European Championship win in Armenia in September 2019 and a 6-0 friendly victory over Moldova in October 2020.
His history with Belgium includes a 3-2 Nations League semi-final loss to France in October 2021, followed by a 3-0 play-off win over Ukraine in March 2024 and a 4-2 World Cup qualifying victory in Wales in October 2025. Belgium converted two penalties in that match in Wales, both awarded for handball.
