Giants Reunite With Schernecke and Ravenell on Practice Squad

New York added tackle Ryan Schernecke and defensive tackle C.J. Ravenell to its practice squad while releasing Kingsley Eguakun and Elijah Jones on Tuesday.

The New York Giants made a series of practice squad moves on Tuesday, signing offensive tackle Ryan Schernecke and defensive tackle C.J. Ravenell. To clear space, the club parted ways with center Kingsley Eguakun and defensive back Elijah Jones.

Schernecke, a rookie who played his college ball at Division II Kutztown University, entered the league as a priority free agent with the Giants following the 2026 NFL Draft. He was let go during final preseason cuts, joined the practice squad, and then was released last week so the team could add cornerback Jaden Robinson.

Ravenell, a 300-pound defensive tackle listed at 6-foot-5, appeared in 14 games with the Tennessee Titans a year ago. New York claimed him off waivers from Tennessee on July 7, then released him with a non-football injury designation on July 25. Dennard Wilson, currently the Giants' defensive coordinator, held the same post with the Titans in 2025.

Veteran Dean Lowry also paid the Giants a visit on Tuesday. The 32-year-old, a fourth-round Green Bay Packers selection in 2016, has also spent time with the Vikings and Steelers, and sat out last season on injured reserve with a torn ACL before Pittsburgh released him during roster cuts.
