South Alabama arrives after a 41-36 home win over Ohio in which the Jaguars never trailed. They led 38-21 midway through the fourth quarter before Ohio scored a touchdown on the final play to narrow the final margin. South Alabama piled up 266 rushing yards in the game.
Keenan Phillips ran for 116 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries against Ohio, while Trae'von Dunbar scored twice on the ground. PJ Martin added 80 yards on 21 attempts and also reached the end zone. On the season, Phillips has 226 rushing yards and Martin has 222 with three touchdowns, with the Jaguars averaging 229.7 rushing yards per game as a team.
South Alabama played the Ohio game without starting quarterback Bishop Davenport, who sat out with a lingering injury. Backup Jared Hollins ran the offense in the victory. Davenport's status for Saturday was not addressed in the source material.
