Jaxson Dart Exits Giants' Monday Night Loss With Knee Injury

The second-year quarterback left the Giants' Week 2 defeat to the Rams with a sprained MCL and is expected to miss time, per Ian Rapoport.

The Los Angeles Rams defeated the New York Giants 28-6 at home in a Week 2 Monday Night matchup. New York entered the game at 1-0 after beating the Dallas Cowboys in the season opener, while Los Angeles was trying to rebound from a Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart departed the game early with a left knee injury, forcing Jameis Winston to step in under center for the Giants.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, initial exams point to a sprained MCL for Dart. Rapoport reported that X-rays came back negative, an MRI was set for Tuesday, and the quarterback is expected to be sidelined for a period, though the overall outlook was described as positive.

The injury drew a strong reaction from two-time Super Bowl champion LeSean McCoy, who said on the Speakeasy podcast that he is finished backing players who are frequently hurt. McCoy called Dart a talented player but criticized his inability to stay on the field, adding that he plans to avoid discussing players with a history of injuries going forward.

Dart has previously dealt with health issues, including a concussion in November 2025 that kept him out of two games and a meniscus tear in 2021 that sidelined him for four. The Giants dropped to 1-1 with the loss and now face adjusting to life without their starting quarterback.
