Indiana Fever guard Tyasha Harris will not play again this season after fracturing her left fibule, the team said Saturday. The injury occurred Thursday in the third quarter of Indiana's regular-season finale against Minnesota, when Harris came down awkwardly on her left ankle after attempting a shot. Her foot appeared to roll beneath her, and she was visibly in pain before trainers carried her off the court while teammates and coaches gathered around her.
The loss is a difficult finish for Harris, who is from Fishers and played her high school basketball at Heritage Christian. She joined the Fever on a one-year contract for 2026 after a left knee injury limited her to just five appearances in 2025. After grinding back to full fitness during training camp, she developed into an important rotation piece and provided veteran leadership off the bench.
Across the 2026 season, Harris posted averages of 4.1 points and 2.0 assists per game. She showed she could deliver when called upon, scoring 16 points against Los Angeles in June while starting in place of an injured Caitlin Clark, and dropping 15 points on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting from three-point range versus Dallas in August.
Harris is the second Fever player lost for the year. Damiris Dantas was ruled out in August with a meniscus injury, which prompted Indiana to obtain a hardship exception and sign Mercedes Russell as a result.
With the playoffs beginning Sunday, roster rules leave the Fever without a path to add a replacement. Clubs had to apply for season-ending injury exceptions by the four-week mark of the campaign, and emergency hardship exceptions apply only when a team has 10 or fewer available players. Indiana will carry 11 through the postseason. Development players Bree Hall and Michelle Onyiah are ineligible for playoff play.
Harris's absence is expected to expand the role of rookie Raven Johnson, whose playing time has fluctuated all year. Johnson has appeared in 39 games, averaging 10.9 minutes, 3.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest.
Indiana, the No. 6 seed, begins its playoff run against the third-seeded Las Vegas Aces on the road. Game 1 is scheduled for Sunday, September 27 at 4:00 PM EDT at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, with coverage on ABC.
