Indiana Fever backup guard Tyasha Harris will miss the rest of the season after breaking her left fibula, the team announced Saturday. The injury occurred in the third quarter of Thursday's regular-season finale against Minnesota, when Harris landed awkwardly on her left ankle while attempting a shot. Her foot appeared to roll beneath her, and trainers eventually carried her off the floor as teammates and coaches gathered around her.
Harris, a Fishers native and Heritage Christian graduate, joined the Fever on a one-year deal for 2026 after a left knee injury limited her to just five games in 2025. She worked her way back into game shape during Indiana's training camp and developed into an important piece of the second unit, providing veteran depth behind the starting guards.
In 2026 she averaged 4.1 points and 2.0 assists per game. She showed the ability to deliver in bigger moments, scoring 16 points against Los Angeles in June while starting in place of an injured Caitlin Clark, and adding 15 points against Dallas in August on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting from three-point range.
The injury leaves Indiana without a path to add a replacement. The deadline for season-ending injury exceptions passed with four weeks remaining in the regular season, and emergency hardship exceptions apply only when a team has 10 or fewer available players. The Fever will carry 11 players into the playoffs.
It is the second season-ending injury for Indiana this year. Damiris Dantas was ruled out in August with a meniscus injury, which led the Fever to receive a hardship exception and sign Mercedes Russell. Development players Bree Hall and Michelle Onyiah are also ineligible for the playoffs.
Harris's absence is expected to expand the role of rookie guard Raven Johnson, whose minutes have fluctuated throughout the season. Johnson has appeared in 39 games, averaging 10.9 minutes, 3.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest.
The sixth-seeded Fever open the postseason Sunday against the third-seeded Las Vegas Aces at Michelob ULTRA Arena, with tip-off at 4:00 PM EDT and the game airing on ABC.
