Sumrall Questions Oddsmakers After Florida Installed as Favorite Over Ole Miss

Florida's first-year coach joked that bookmakers 'haven't watched the tape' after the No. 21 Gators were made 3.5-point favorites against No. 4 Ole Miss.

Florida coach Jon Sumrall reacted with sarcasm Monday when told that DraftKings lists his No. 21 Gators as 3.5-point favorites against No. 4 Ole Miss. The first-year coach quipped that 'there's a lot of good drugs out there' and added that whoever set the line 'haven't watched the tape.'

The Gators improved to 3-0 with a 44-39 victory against Auburn, which lifted them into the AP Top 25 at No. 21. Ole Miss, ranked fourth, last played in Week 2, when it defeated No. 10 LSU. Sumrall praised Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, describing him as the best quarterback in college football.

Sumrall cautioned that Florida's early ranking carries little weight without continued growth, warning that praise can turn quickly if the team falters. He told players to tune out outside noise and focus on going 1-0 each week. A win Saturday would give the program its first 4-0 start since 2019.

Running back Jadan Baugh has rushed for 458 yards and eight touchdowns this season, averaging 8.5 yards per attempt. Fellow Doak Walker Award finalist Kewan Lacy is uncertain to play after injuring his shoulder in the game against LSU.
