- The Eagles, Chiefs, Bills and 49ers are potential fits after wide receiver injuries.
A 3-1 start built on rookie wide receivers has left Jerry Jeudy with a shrinking role, and ESPN's Adam Schefter says the Browns could trade him before the Nov. 10 deadline.
Four games into the NFL season, the Cleveland Browns are 3-1 and share first place in the AFC North, a standing almost nobody saw coming when the year began. The unexpected start has quickly turned the franchise from a rebuilding story into one of the league's early surprises, and it has placed an established veteran's future with the club in doubt.
The offense has driven much of that success, performing at a high level across the past three weeks. Rookie wideouts Denzel Boston and K.C. Concepcion have grown into significant roles, and head coach Todd Monken has earned recognition for the way the unit functions. Quarterback Deshaun Watson is also delivering the best football of his tenure in Cleveland.
One prominent player has been left behind by that evolution. Pro Bowl wide receiver Jerry Jeudy has watched his role all but disappear from the game plan, and the numbers show it: five receptions for 62 yards this season.
ESPN's Adam Schefter addressed Jeudy's standing while surveying players who could change teams this season. In Schefter's assessment, the output Cleveland is receiving from its two rookie receivers has made the veteran expendable, and he indicated Jeudy could be available to interested clubs ahead of the deadline.
A trade would check several boxes for Cleveland. The likely return is a late-round selection, a meaningful asset for an organization still rebuilding, and moving out an unhappy veteran would protect a locker room that has built early momentum through a quarter of the season. There is also football logic in sending Jeudy to a destination that needs his position more, where he would have a clearer role.
The list of potential landing spots includes the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers. All four have absorbed injuries at wide receiver, and each could use another proven option in the passing game.
Interest, however, may hinge on how much suitors believe Jeudy has left. He placed 76th last season in Pro Football Network's WR Impact Metric, and his overall career production has been modest — enough to make win-now teams wary of pursuing him unless they are convinced he can still contribute.
Pro Football Network's Trade Machine pegs Jeudy's value at the equivalent of a fourth-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. According to the report, the Browns would probably accept an offer at that level.
The financial side of a move is workable. Jeudy counts about $10.4 million against Cleveland's cap this season, but an acquiring club would not absorb that entire amount, and nothing is guaranteed in his 2027 deal — flexibility that lets a trade partner add him without long-term commitment. His name is expected to remain in trade chatter until the league's November 10 deadline, and whether Cleveland ultimately acts remains an open question.
