Pro Football Focus graded backup quarterback Cam Fancher highest among Michigan State offensive players in the 27-10 loss to Notre Dame.
Michigan State fell to No. 3 Notre Dame, 27-10, on Saturday night, the first defeat of the season and the first of the Pat Fitzgerald era. The Spartans managed just 167 yards of offense and held the ball for a little over 22 minutes.
Pro Football Focus graded the Michigan State offense after reviewing the film, and backup quarterback Cam Fancher topped the list at 84.0. Fancher has been used in a package that takes advantage of his mobility and provides a spark for the Spartans.
Left tackle Ben Murawski, a UConn transfer, followed at 71.6, posting an 80.4 pass-blocking grade and a 66.1 run-blocking grade against Notre Dame's defensive line. Right tackle Rakeem Johnson was third at 69.8, splitting into a 69.6 pass-blocking mark and a 69.1 run-blocking mark.
Senior wide receiver Rodney Bullard graded at 69.5 after catching two passes for 66 yards, more than half of Michigan State's receiving yardage. Tight end Kai Rios rounded out the top five at 68.6, contributing as a run blocker and converting a first-half third down to extend a scoring drive.
Michigan State now turns its attention to its upcoming matchup with Nebraska.
