Brighton's Minteh Still Wants Liverpool Move Despite Injury, Report Says

Yankuba Minteh, valued at £70 million by Brighton, reportedly remains determined on a transfer to Liverpool, but injury has denied him the platform to prove it.

Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh has not abandoned the idea of a future at Liverpool, according to comments highlighted by Sport Witness. The player, valued at £70 million, drew heavy interest from Anfield in the past without a deal being completed, and the sense persists that the story is unfinished.

Liverpool's need for a right-sided attacker remains the driving factor. Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz were brought in to reinforce the forward line, yet both are more at home operating from the left. Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha also favor that flank, leaving the squad without a natural option to attack from the opposite side.

That imbalance has at times made Liverpool's play in the final third lopsided and hurt its rhythm. A dedicated right winger would restore shape as much as spark, handing defenders a fresh problem and giving the central attackers a clearer structure around them. Minteh is quick, aggressive and positive on the ball, with a left foot that allows him to cut inside or stretch play toward the byline. There is rawness in his game to refine, but speed and boldness cannot easily be taught.

Baboucarr Fallaboweh, who tracked Minteh's rise, said the player was surrounded by the game from the beginning. "Everything around him was football. He loved football and people came to notice him when he played in the school football team. It was the President Cup. So that's where he made his name for his school," Fallaboweh said. He added that the youngster was spotted at that age, moved into divisional football with a club called Steve Biko, and was "the best in his position" across two seasons there before heading to Denmark.

On the transfer question, Fallaboweh was direct. "I think Liverpool. He will still want to go to Liverpool. Depending on [how] Liverpool will activate that desire to still have him. Because right now, his situation has not been helped because he is injured. If not, then you could have more justification for him to showcase his performance why Liverpool were after him," he said.

Fallaboweh also cautioned that Liverpool may not have a free run at the player. "But at the overall situation, even if he moves, I don't think he will move outside the Premier League. Manchester United can come banging on their doors," he said, pointing to possible competition from a domestic rival.

The injury has stalled Minteh's momentum at a critical moment. With minutes limited and rhythm broken, Liverpool cannot fully evaluate a player they previously pursued, even though the underlying logic of the move has not disappeared.

Tactically, the fit remains. Under manager Andoni Iraola, Liverpool want intensity, vertical threat and forwards willing to play with courage, and Minteh supplies all three. He is still developing and can frustrate on occasion, often the price of signing an attacker with genuine edge. If Liverpool return for him in 2027, it will be because the squad need still exists and the player still makes sense, and on that front almost nothing has changed.
