Secondary-market tickets for the Presidents Cup, which begins Thursday at Medinah Country Club outside Chicago, are selling below face value. Official daily grounds passes through Ticketmaster run from $119 to $184, but resale listings on platforms such as SeatGeek are going for roughly $20 to $30 less depending on the day, and no competition day has sold out of general admission.
Resale listings as of Wednesday afternoon showed Thursday grounds access at $87 versus a $119 face value, Friday at $126 versus $151, Saturday at $156 versus $184, and Sunday at $134 versus $156.
Discounts are even steeper on premium inventory. The Captains' Club package, which includes tournament entry plus a hospitality area with complimentary beer and alcoholic seltzers, carries face values from $354 to $429, while secondary-market prices range from about $143 to no more than $220. Two fans said they paid just over $40 for Captains' Club practice-round access that listed at $204.
The soft market echoes the PGA Championship in May at Aronimink Golf Club near Philadelphia, where resale prices for the sold-out major also fell well below face value during tournament week. The PGA Tour, which runs the Presidents Cup, still expects up to 150,000 fans across four competition days and two practice rounds at Medinah.
Weather appears unlikely to be a factor this week. Medinah was hit by heavy rain late last week, but forecasts call for temperatures returning to the 70s by the weekend as the course continues to dry out.
