Michigan state coaches kept Holland Christian's boys and girls at No. 1 in Division 2 and Holland Calvary's boys on top in Division 4 in their Week 3 cross country polls.
The Week 3 Michigan high school cross country rankings have been released, with the polls voted on by the state's coaches through MichiganCrossCountry.com. Holland Christian sits at No. 1 in both Lower Peninsula Division 2 polls, while Holland Calvary's boys stay on top in Division 4. The rankings cover four Lower Peninsula divisions and three Upper Peninsula divisions for boys and girls. The report originally appeared in The Holland Sentinel.
In Lower Peninsula Division 1 boys, Ann Arbor Skyline holds the lead over Traverse City West, Jenison, Brighton and Lowell. Midland, Salem, Grand Ledge, Saline and Northville fill places six through 10, with East Kentwood, Rockford, Milford, Kalamazoo Central and Romeo completing the top 15. Fenton and Caledonia received honorable mention.
Ann Arbor Pioneer is first in the Lower Peninsula Division 1 girls poll, ahead of Ann Arbor Skyline and Northville. Portage Central, Rockford, Hudsonville, Rochester Adams, Saline, Brighton and Hartland fill the rest of the top 10. Novi, Holland West Ottawa, Brownstown Woodhaven, Traverse City Central and Grand Haven hold spots 11 through 15, and Romeo earned honorable mention.
Holland Christian leads Lower Peninsula Division 2 boys, followed by Flint Powers Catholic, Parma Western, East Grand Rapids and Grand Rapids Christian. Adrian, St. Joseph, Petoskey, Pinckney and Otsego hold positions six through 10, with Holly, Shepherd, Alma, Ada Forest Hills Eastern and Vicksburg making up the rest. Detroit Country Day received honorable mention.
The Division 2 girls poll also starts with Holland Christian, with Otsego second and Linden third. Grand Rapids Christian, Grand Rapids South Christian, DeWitt, East Grand Rapids, Coopersville, Allendale and Bloomfield Hills Marian take spots four through 10. Holland, Pinckney, Goodrich, Adrian and Macomb Lutheran North close out the rankings.
Hanover-Horton paces Lower Peninsula Division 3 boys, with Lansing Catholic second and Saugatuck third. Hart, Jonesville, Maple City Glen Lake, Charlevoix, Centreville, Pewamo-Westphalia and Blissfield cover positions four through 10, ahead of Jackson Lumen Christi, Muskegon Western Michigan Christian, Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest, Caro and Gladwin. Benzie Central, Holland Black River and Traverse City St. Francis picked up honorable mention.
Lansing Catholic is No. 1 in Lower Peninsula Division 3 girls, followed by Traverse City St. Francis and Pewamo-Westphalia. Grand Rapids Covenant Christian, Saugatuck, Lake City, Jackson Lumen Christi, Benzie Central, Ithaca and Kent City sit fourth through 10th. Hart, McBain, Blissfield, Chesaning and Olivet complete the top 15.
Holland Calvary remains No. 1 in Lower Peninsula Division 4 boys, with Breckenridge, Hillsdale Academy, Whitmore Lake and Martin in pursuit. Mason County Eastern, Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart, Petoskey St. Michael, Kalamazoo Hackett Catholic Prep and Grand Traverse Academy make up the rest of the top 10, with Gobles, Leland, Wyoming Tri-unity Christian, Sand Creek and Mesick at 11 through 15. Hillsdale Academy leads the Division 4 girls, ahead of Whitmore Lake, Gobles, Martin and Onekama. Fowler, Grand Traverse Academy, Breckenridge, Genesee Christian and Concord hold spots six through 10, with Ubly, Dansville, Lutheran Westland, Bridgman and Buckley finishing the list.
In the Upper Peninsula, Marquette leads the Division 1 boys poll and Sault Ste. Marie leads the girls, with Houghton third in both. Munising tops both Division 2 polls, with Rudyard second and Painesdale Jeffers third on each list. Rapid River leads Division 3 boys ahead of St. Ignace and Rock Mid Peninsula, while L'Anse leads the Division 3 girls ahead of Ewen-Trout Creek and Rapid River.
