Roma signed Porto playmaker Mora for €25m plus a 50% sell-on clause, well below the €70m release clause Porto once expected to be triggered.
Roma completed one of the more striking deals of the summer transfer window by signing Porto's teenage playmaker Mora for €25m (£21.4m), with a 50% sell-on fee included that can be bought out.
The fee represented a major discount for a player who had attracted attention from Europe's top clubs after breaking through with Porto's B-team at the age of 15. Porto had anticipated that Mora's €70m (£59.5m) release clause would be activated in the summer of 2025, but no club met it, and the teenager subsequently lost his place under new head coach Francesco Farioli.
Mora said Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini was a key factor in his decision, citing the coach's appreciation for players with his qualities and his own admiration for Gasperini's style of play.
The move has started well. Mora scored his first goal for Roma against Lecce as the club opened the Serie A season strongly.
