Vikings Top Bears 9-3, Move to 2-0 in NFC North

Minnesota ground out a field-goal-only win at Soldier Field on Sunday to take sole possession of first place in the NFC North.

The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Chicago Bears 9-3 at Soldier Field on Sunday, September 20, improving to 2-0 and moving into sole possession of first place in the NFC North.

The Vikings' points all came from kicker Will Reichard, while running back Aaron Jones rushed for over 100 yards at 4.6 yards per carry without a turnover. Linebacker Dallas Turner continued a strong start to the season with repeated pressure in the Bears' backfield, and Andrew van Ginkel sacked quarterback Caleb Williams on the final play of the second quarter.

Williams was carted off the field with a hamstring injury during the game, adding to a difficult afternoon for the Chicago offense.

Minnesota started its backup quarterback for the entire game. Poor field conditions at Soldier Field were a factor in a low-scoring contest in which passing yards were hard to come by.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again later this season in Minnesota.
