Vikings mulling RB decisions ahead of Week 3 Bucs battle

Kevin O’Connell says Aaron Jones Sr. was sore but OK after shouldering most of the RB load yesterday. But O’Connell and GM Nolan Teasley will talk about personnel options as Jordan Mason remains on IR for 3 more weeks.

DeeJay Dallas was the No. 2 running back for the Vikings on Sunday with eight offensive snaps. He finished with two carries for eight yards and one catch for 12 yards. Rookie Demond Claiborne was the only other running back to see the field, and his only touch was one reception for two yards.

The Vikings signed veteran Jerome Ford to their practice squad after last week’s injury to Mason, but he was not elevated to the active roster against the Bears. O’Connell’s comments make it sound like Minnesota might prefer a lighter workload for Jones going forward.
