Niles and South Range meet on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, in a Northeast 8 Conference girls high school soccer matchup serving as WKBN's High School Game of the Week. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Niles. Fans can watch live on MyYTV, WKBN.com, the WKBN App or WKBN+, with the streaming app available via the Roku channel store, the Apple TV App Store and Fire TV search.
The two programs arrive with sharply different records. Host Niles is a perfect 10-0 and has outscored opponents 75-4 this season, while visiting South Range stands 6-4-2 with 47 goals for and 30 against. Beyond the conference table, local pride is also at stake whenever these rivals meet.
Series history leans heavily toward the Red Dragons, who have beaten the Raiders nine times in a row. The past five results: 11-0 on Sept. 11, 2024; 7-0 on Oct. 7, 2024; 11-0 on Sept. 8, 2025; 12-0 on Oct. 2, 2025; and 8-0 on Aug. 31, 2026. South Range's most recent win in the series came on Oct. 7, 2021, when Gabby Lamparty delivered both goals in a 2-0 final.
Kherington Stanford drove the Aug. 31 blowout with five goals and 10 points for Niles. She continues to pace the Red Dragons with a team-best 30 goals this season, with Madelyn Yost next at 22.
Distribution has been nearly as productive for Niles. Yost leads the way in assists with 19, ahead of Taylor Bickerstaff (17) and Stanford (11), and that trio has been credited with 42 assists. In goal, Grace Guarinieri has recorded 40 saves this season.
A year ago, Niles claimed a district championship with a 2-1 victory over Perry. The Red Dragons followed with a 4-1 win against Fairview before Ottawa-Glandorf ended their season 2-0 in the regional championship.
South Range opened the campaign at 4-4-1 before consecutive results changed the tone of its fall. The Raiders rolled past Struthers 12-0 and Akron North 4-0 in successive outings, then played to a 1-1 draw against Girard on Thursday in their latest test.
Offense for the Raiders has run through Helena Webber and Lia Smith, who have delivered 20 and 15 goals respectively for a combined 35. Smith tops the squad with nine assists. At the other end, goalkeeper Lilah Angus has accumulated 99 saves through her first 12 games between the posts.
Both teams have a full week once Monday's fixture ends. South Range plays at Hubbard on Oct. 1 before facing Poland on Oct. 5 and Lakeview on Oct. 8. Niles travels to Girard on Oct. 1, then meets Beaver Local on Oct. 3 and Lakeview on Oct. 5.
